[Word Powers] Today's Words

Troth (trawth) (noun): faithfulness, fidelity or a pledge of fidelity, truth or verity, a person's promise, to pledge or betroth

It was his troth to marry her on his return from the crusade.

Benediction (ben-i-dik-shuhn) (noun): a blessing or an expression good wishes, the invocation of divine blessing or the blessing pronounced by an officiating minister

The old man’s benediction was misinterpreted by the ignorant villagers as a curse because he spoke with a lisp.
