Stultify (stuhl-tuh-fahy) (Verb):

 

1)            To make, or cause to appear, foolish or ridiculous.

The bank robber’s clever escape left the cops stultified in front of the crowd that had gathered at the scene.

 

2)            To render absurdly or wholly futile or ineffectual, esp. by frustrating means; cripple, impede, frustrate, hinder, thwart

Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay were finally able to reach the summit of Mount Everest after facing several stultifying problems offered by the sheer incline of the north face of the mountain.

               

Dunce (duhns) (Noun):

  

1)            A dull-witted, stupid, or ignorant person; dolt, dullard, numbskull, blockhead, ignoramus, nincompoop, ninny

                Being a dunce at school, he often had to suffer punishments given to him by the teachers.
